<p>AFC Bournemouth have confirmed that manager Andoni Iraola will step down at the end of the 2025-26 season of the English Premier League (EPL).</p>



<p>Despite 15 months of negotiations, the 43-year-old Spaniard has opted to leave when his contract expires this summer.</p>



<p>The news was confirmed via the Cherries’ official website on Tuesday, 14 April, with Iraola stating: “It has been an honour to manage AFC Bournemouth and I am proud of what we have achieved together. I feel this is the right moment for me to step away, but I will always carry fantastic memories of this club.”</p>



<p>Iraola’s tenure has been transformative. He evolved the English club into an aggressive, high-pressing side, securing a record points tally and an EPL ninth-place finish last season. His reputation was further bolstered last weekend by a stunning 2-1 victory over league leaders Arsenal, leaving the club currently sitting 11th in the table.</p>



<p>The search for a successor is already underway. Marco Rose is considered a frontrunner; the 49-year-old former RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund coach is currently a free agent and reportedly in contact with the board.</p>



<p>Also in the frame is Frank Lampard, who is nearing a Premier League return as he guides Coventry City toward promotion. Other candidates include Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna and Rayo Vallecano’s Inigo Perez.</p>



<p>Whoever takes the helm at the Vitality Stadium inherits a squad with a distinct identity and a proven ability to challenge the league’s elite.</p>

Iraola Leaves, Bournemouth Begin Hunt for New Couch


<p>Liverpool’s pursuit of Champions League qualification has suffered a devastating blow after scans confirmed Hugo Ekitike ruptured his Achilles tendon.</p>



<p>The 23-year-old collapsed without contact 30 minutes into Tuesday’s defeat against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).</p>



<p>The injury concludes a prolific debut season for the £79 million signing, who has netted 17 goals. While family members initially hoped the damage was less severe, Liverpool’s medical team and French national coach Didier Deschamps have confirmed the striker will miss the remainder of the campaign and the upcoming 2026 World Cup.</p>



<p>“Hugo suffered a serious injury against PSG on Tuesday night,” said Deschamps. “Unfortunately, the severity of his injury will prevent him from finishing the season with Liverpool and from taking part in the World Cup.”</p>



<p>Arne Slot now faces a selection crisis, as Ekitiké’s absence leaves Alexander Isak—recently returned from a broken leg – as the club’s sole fit striker. With Mohamed Salah departing this summer and Ekitike potentially sidelined for nine months, the club’s recruitment strategy faces immediate pressure.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Despite the setback, Deschamps remains optimistic about the youngster’s future, stating, “Hugo will regain his top form, I’m convinced of it.”</p>

<p>Leeds United achieved their first league victory at Old Trafford since 1981, defeating Manchester United 2-1 to boost their survival hopes on Monday, 13 April.</p>



<p>Noah Okafor dominated the first half, scoring twice to stun the hosts. His clinical fifth-minute opener was followed by a deflected long-range strike that left Michael Carrick’s side reeling.</p>
