<p>It’s game day. You have your scarf ready, you and your mates have been to the pub for drinks and some food, and as you walk along to the stadium you hype each other up for what is no doubt going to be a cracking game of footie. Just before kick-off, you and the rest of the crowd get into the spirit with your club’s anthem.</p>



<p>No self-respecting football team would take to the pitch without their fans cheering and singing their anthem, check out these four popular anthems:</p>



<p><strong>Blue Moon &#8211; Manchester City</strong></p>



<p>It’s the perfect match: a blue celestial body symbolising hope and promise, with a football club that wears a blue kit and have proven to be a promising team.</p>



<p>Musical icons, Lorenz Hart and Richard Rodgers, wrote the 1934 pop ballad, “Blue Moon”, and although the lyrics reflect a waning, rare love, the fans’ love for the Blues has never left.</p>



<p><strong>Glory Glory Man United – Manchester United</strong></p>



<p>First sung before the FA Cup Final in 1983, “Glory Glory Man United” has endured nearly as long as the club’s legacy, along with minor tweaks to the song as the team has changed.</p>



<p>“As the Reds go marching on, on, on!” will have any Manchester United fan chanting with high emotions and fierce pride; and they should as their club is one of the most popular and holds a history that is rich with awards from several competitions across several decades.</p>



<p><strong>I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles – West Ham United</strong></p>



<p>Anthems are often seen as hard-hitting, emotive pieces of music, but West Ham’s song of choice is a whimsical number that dares to dream big and floats on positivity.</p>



<p>John Kellete’s 1918 has a somewhat apocryphal history of how it ended up as the Hammers’ anthem, but it is generally accepted that it first popped up in the 1920s and since then, it has been sung at every game.</p>



<p><strong>You’ll Never Walk Alone – Liverpool</strong></p>



<p>Nothing rouses a Liverpool supporter more than hearing a large crowd singing “Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart” before ending off with a heart-felt “You’ll never walk alone!”.</p>



<p>Originally a show tune from the 1945 musical titled “Carousel”, the track was part of the time’s top ten tracks of the day, and played fairly often via the stadium’s address system where it quickly became the anthem of Anfield.</p>

<p>Jules Kounde is at the center of an intensifying English Premier League transfer battle, with Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea all monitoring the French defender. Despite a contract running until 2030, the 27-year-old’s future at Barcelona is uncertain as the club grapples with ongoing financial pressures.</p>



<p>Sporting director Deco recently confirmed that while the Spotify Camp Nou hierarchy has rejected informal inquiries from Manchester City, the club may be forced to reconsider if a significant bid arrives. Reports suggest a valuation up to €80 million could tempt the cash-strapped Catalans, who are eager to fund moves for top targets like Julian Alvarez and Alessandro Bastoni.</p>



<p>Kounde has been a stalwart under Hansi Flick, making 40 appearances this season primarily at right-back. However, with the emergence of tactical alternatives and the potential permanent signing of Joao Cancelo, Barca may view Kounde’s sale as a necessary sacrifice to achieve Financial Fair Play compliance.</p>

<p>A massive rift has emerged between the English Premier League and its supporters regarding the Video Assistant Referee.</p>



<p>Data from the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) reveals that 75% of match-goers want the technology abolished, with 90% stating it has worsened the stadium experience.</p>



<p>While the league argues VAR ensures “sporting integrity” and delivers roughly 100 correct overturns annually, fans remain unconvinced. A staggering 91% believe the system has destroyed the raw emotion of goal celebrations.</p>



<p>&nbsp;Despite the pursuit of technical perfection, officiating errors have actually risen this season to 54 recorded incidents.</p>



<p>Critics argue the “high threshold&#8221; for intervention hasn&#8217;t fixed the game’s flow. Thomas Concannon, the FSA’s EPL network manager, told an international publication: “It does take away from what football is meant to be and what those special moments are about.”</p>



<p>Although clubs previously voted 19-1 to retain the system, the pressure for reform is mounting. While goal-line technology enjoys 93% support for its speed and clarity, VAR faces a fight for its future as fans increasingly prefer the joy of the lower leagues where the technology is absent.</p>

Fans Favour Soul of Football Over VAR Technology


<p>UEFA has hit Fenerbahce with heavy sanctions after supporters caused significant disruption during a Europa League play-off against Nottingham Forest.</p>



<p>The Istanbul-based side must now reimburse their hosts for stadium damage and serve a ticket ban for their next European fixture.</p>



<p>Trouble flared on 26 February at the City Ground when pyrotechnics launched from the away end forced a three-minute delay. The governing body’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body issued a total fine of €50 500, covering both the use of fireworks and “acts of damage” involving broken seating.</p>



<p>The Turkish club has a 30-day window to negotiate a settlement with Forest to cover repair costs. While Fenerbahçe initially won the tie 4-2 on aggregate, the recent results indicate that Nottingham Forest have continued their European journey, having recently defeated FC Midtjylland to secure a quarter-final spot against Porto this April.</p>



<p>Despite the away side’s victory on the night, the match was marred by the unrest that saw three arrests and players forced to take cover. The ruling ensures that Fenerbahce’s following will be barred from their next continental away match as a direct consequence of the disorder.</p>

Fenerbahce Penalised Following Chaos at the City Ground


<p>Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing a glittering nine-year tenure to a close.</p>



<p>The 33-year-old winger released an emotional farewell video across social media on Tuesday, 24 March, in which he stated: “Because of all of you, I will never walk alone.”</p>



<p>Since joining from Roma in 2017, Salah has become a foundational pillar of Liverpool’s modern success, not to mention raising the popularity of the club amongst his fellow Egyptian countrymen.</p>



<p>His time at Anfield saw him score 255 goals in 435 appearances – 3rd on the club’s all-time list – and win a plethora of trophies: two Premier League titles (2019/20 and 2024/25), a Champions League trophy (2019) and four English Premier League Golden Boots.</p>



<p>The departure comes after a complex season marked by a public rift with head coach Arne Slot. To facilitate his exit as a free agent, Salah reportedly forfeited the final year of his £400 000-a-week wages.</p>



<p>While Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer clubs are rumoured to be orbiting the Reds legend, his agent, Ramy Abbas, insists no future destination has been decided. As Anfield prepares for an emotional send-off, Salah remains focused on securing further silverware in the Football Association Cup and UEFA Champions League.</p>
